About Us
We provide consultancy and interim resources to help our clients to transform what they do and find the path to success, whether it be  through better operational delivery to be more effective or winning and mobilising new business in order to grow.

We apply an approach built upon knowledge and experience gained in working with organisations both large and small over a number of years, helping them to develop and change what they do to be more effective and efficient.

The approach emphasises the application of business planning, leadership development, and communications through the process of change.

We help our clients to figure out and focus on the outcomes they want throughout the process and actively look for the pragmatic solution at all times. 

We believe above all things our clients want simple and easy to implement changes wherever possible; these often represent solutions with the lowest risk of failure and often the lowest cost.

For me Smart Outcomes Limited is all about the important work of helping organisations to deliver change, as simply and straightforwardly as possible; we don’t stop at giving advice about what can be done, we are with you on the journey to making that change happen if you want us to.

The motivation to set up Smart Outcomes came from what I've learned over more than 20 years in working for and leading organisations to achieve the best they can be, often bringing transformational change to do this. 

Recently that learning and experience has come from:

  • leading teams in the creation, establishment, and delivery of services covering the provision of adult skills development, apprenticeships and business support, which I undertook as Serco Group plc’s Director of Economic Development Services
  • being a founding member and director of Heart of the South West Local Enterprise Partnership, where I took a leading role in the establishment of the LEP's Community Interest Company, in putting the finances on a secure footing,  in recruiting key staff (including CEO) that have helped to transform the reputation of the LEP, and  chairing its Strategic Investment Panel, overseeing its capital investment programmes of over  £625 million
  • and establishing Peninsula Enterprise through the merger of two established business support service providers, and, as CEO, leading that organisation through periods of significant growth and change in response to government funding priorities and the demands of the economy.

All of these have been roles where business outcomes have often been achieved in politically sensitive, complicated stakeholder environments, where being effective in engaging customers, staff and partners is vital.

I believe success only comes though focusing on efficient operational delivery and effective implementation of strategy; the approach to leadership and the way in which that is done is also vital to win the trust and respect of all involved. This is what drives me and what I like to bring to the work that I do for Smart Outcomes.
